Once a person pays their debt to society through fines, jail time, or successfully finishing probation in CA, it is time to clean their criminal record. A person who has passed probation will have the accusations against him or her dismissed and must be let off from all penalties and disabilities resulting from the first DUI offense, except as written by law in CA.

A juvenile record can be sealed through the juvenile court in CA. Once this has been done, the offense must be considered never to have occurred. There are no exceptions to this sealing; it is like the offense never happened. There is also post-conviction relief.
