“A drunk Driver Paralyzed my Baby”
There is nothing more painful for a mother than the death of his children and if the loss could’ve been prevented, the pain multiples and the scar might never heal. This is the story of Lucy Verde from San Diego, California, mother of 18 month old Izaiah Wallis, who the morning of October 18th of 2010 an out of control SUV driven by a 17th year old drunk driver jumped a curb and went onto a sidewalk, striking the baby’s jaw and throwing him from his stroller. The impact separated Izaiah’s skull from his spine.

“EVERY 15 MINUTES” is a short documentary film about a two-day program staged in Etna, CA that focuses on teaching high school students about the consequences of drinking & driving. The Every 15 Minutes program challenges them to think about alcohol, driving, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions. On day one, the students witness the re-creation of a drunk driving accident, complete with crashed cars and a full-scale emergency response. Day two focuses on the impact that their decisions would have on family and friends by presenting a mock-funeral in which students hear stories from actual victims of drunk driving accidents and listen to what their loved ones would have to say in the event of their death.
